A good time was had by all at the Vernon Mill Spring Exhibition, when my studio and those of many of the other Vernon Mill artists were open to the public ( 21-23rd April).
I met many new people, chatted to plenty of old friends and some of my paintings have now gone off to new homes, including this favourite of mine – ‘River Bed, Honister Pass’:
Then last Thursday, 11th May, I was at the Summer Exhibition Preview at Gallery 23, Melbourne Street, Stalybridge. Very pleased to be there, particularly as they are showcasing two of my urban paintings in their summer show;
This is Platform 1, Piccadilly, Manchester
And this one – ‘Thursday Night Late Shoppers’
Do go along to Gallery 23 for a look – they have a really interesting and varied exhibition of original art and also some stunning fine art photography.
Then coming up I am very excited to be involved in a collaborative exhibition about the River Mersey. To any of you who don’t know this, while the Mersey is very famous for its connection with Liverpool – it actually starts at Stockport – where the rivers Tame and Goyt meet. It then flows across south Manchester, past Warrington and Runcorn, and out to the sea at Liverpool. This show is an exploration of the theme ‘The Thread That Binds Us’ – with artists from Stockport to Liverpool responding to this theme, in a show called, appropriately enough – ‘The Thread That Binds Us’.
This show later tours to Liverpool Hope University in August.
Preview is this Friday, 19th May at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, then the show is on until 17th June, during normal opening hours. There are also some free workshops. Please ring the art gallery on 0161 474 4453 for further details.
