September is a busy month for me as I prepare for my exhibition about some of my favourite Derbyshire walks. ‘Inspiring Derbyshire’ which previews at The Green Man Gallery, Hardwick Square, Buxton, on Friday 27th October – 7-9pm. The exhibition then continues every day except Thursdays until its last day, Wednesday 22nd November.
In 2015 I started a blog called https://inspiringartwalkswithsarahmorley.blogspot.co.uk/ where I wrote about a favourite walk around Kinderscout, Derbyshire and illustrated the blog with paintings inspired by the walk. I had hopee to do more of these during 2016, but I was very busy with two solo exhibitions in one year. So early this year I decided to take up the challenge once more.
This new exhibition, ‘Inspiring Derbyshire’ will showcase the art inspired by three walks – A walk around Lantern Pike and Cown Edge ( Walk 2), a walk around Lumsdale Falls ( Walk 3) and a walk on Stanage Edge and Burbage Moor ( Walk 4). I have published Walk 2. Walks 3 and 4 will be out within the next few days.
I hope you enjoy reading the blog, viewing the paintings and will feel inspired to come and visit the work – which is a mixture of oil paintings and some charcoal and mixed media drawings – during October and November.
I will also be running two workshops at The Green Man. One on Saturday, 28th November, 10.30am – 3pm which is an opportunity to try knife painting in oil or acrylic, and another one a week later, Saturday 4th November, again, 10.30am – 3pm, where we will have a go at three different mixed media approaches to the same landscape subject matter.
The price per person is 25 pounds per person, lunch is not included.
