Last week I really enjoyed exhibiting three of my paintings with Cult House as part of the Fusion IV show at Candid Galleries, Islington. This is the first time I have exhibited in London.
The work on show was contemporary and from an international group of artists. Preview was busy with friends and family of the artists – probably around 500 people there over the course of the evening. The event was well organised by the lovely Mr J A Neto and his team from Cult House. During the week there were also several other events – music, performance and a book signing. I missed these unfortunately as I was back in the studio, getting ready for my next show.It was a great event – will definitely be taking part again next year.
Here are my three paintings on the wall at the start of the exhibition. This is probably the first time that I have hung one of my more abstract pieces next to my seascapes – Interesting as you can see that the mark making is still that of one wrist!
And a couple of photos taken on the upper floor, where I was, of the preview in full flow.
And I made the first sale of the show. I had noticed one lady in particular looking at ‘Receding Tide’ the seascape on the left in the first photo – she kept looking, going away and then coming back, taking a photo, going away and coming back. Finally she plucked up courage to say she wanted to buy it. Here is a photo of the two of us after she had bought it.
This week it is back to normal. I have added the abstract ‘Reflections III’ see below to my website as being for sale. So if you are interested you know what to do!
And I am now getting putting the finishing touches to work for my next solo show, ‘Force of Nature’ which starts in less than two weeks on 16th May and runs up to and including 23.rd June, at Castle Park Art Centre, Frodsham, Cheshire. This involves putting mirror plates on around 35 paintings – a nice job to do in front of the telly!
Here is a flyer for the new show. More info on the show itself to follow soon in another blog.
